Any person is eligible for election as an honoured member of the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame who has achieved an outstanding standard of excellence in the following categories:

ATHLETE - a competitor in amateur or professional sport whose exceptional achievements warrant special recognition. Athletes shall not be considered for Honoured membership until after a three (3) year waiting period following retirement from active participation in sports competition.

BUILDER - a contributor of outstanding nature to amateur or professional sport other than as a competitor such as coach, trainer, referee, judge, administrator and financial supporter etc.

MEDIA - an individual who has contributed with distinctive quality to amateur and professional sport through dedicated promotion and/or journalism such as writers, photographers, producers, directors in television,radio, and print etc.

The nominee must be, or must have been a resident of the old City of Etobicoke, or the former Borough of Etobicoke, or the former Township of Etobicoke, or the former towns which make up the old City of Etobicoke.
